Haritha Kanthi, a comprehensive agro-organic waste management project of UNESCO Learing City Nilambur municipality was inaugurated. Under the scheme, five types of vegetables such as papaya, moringa, kanthari, arya neem and curry leaves will be provided to every household. They will be planted by workers in the Employment Guarantee Scheme. The family needs to be taken care of. Bio-bin costing Rs 2200 will be provided free of cost to each household for treatment of organic waste. This will also be installed in the homes of the workers. They will be given the necessary training under the municipality and the municipal council will collect organic waste from the bins installed in the houses and sell it to the needy and generate income for the households. The Open Wells in the houses will also be recharged as part of the project

Day Home for Elders (Pakalveedu)
The construction of day homes for the elderly in Nilambur municipality has begun. Day house for elders(Pakalveedu)  its own building adjacent to the Mayanthani Ground. Minister for Local Self-government MV Govindan Master inaugurated the project.The 1200-square-feet building will include a hall, library hall, office and kitchen. The  Senior Citizen of Nilambur will  get their own headquarters once the building is completed.

Nilambur Municipal Corporation is the Top of the Wold. Chairman of Nilambur Municipality Mr. Saleem Mattummal received UNESCO Certificate from PV Abdul Wahab MP. Nilambur Municipality is the smallest city which has won the global status of UNESCO received UNESCO Certificate from PV Abdul Wahab MP

The project works will start by the end of November.  The nodal agency of the project Jan Shikshan Sansthan Malappuram Chairman PV Abdul Wahab MP, Nodal Officer and JSS Director Ummer Koya explained the project activities.It is expected that the help of up to 80 crore rupees will be received from national and international agencies for the comprehensive education activities in Nilambur municipal area. The project activities will be implemented jointly by JSS and Nilambur Municipal Corporation. Nilambur's entry into UNESCO's global learning network will pave the way for holistic development with education at the fore.

Inuaguration

Nilambur Patutsavam (Tourism Festival) organizing committee formed. Hon: PV Abdul Wahab MP Inaugurated. The Nilambur Patutsavam Tourism Festival, a heritage festival of Nilambur, recognized as a UNESCO Learning City, will be held from December 20 to January 15. The festival is named UNESCO Learning City Patu Utsav Tourist Festival. Shopping Festival from 20th to 31st December, Temple Art Fest from January 1st to 3rd, Drama festival from January 4th to 6th,  stage show fest will be held from 8 to 15.

Regarding Learning City Nilambur Patulsavam Tourist Festival Discussed with Minister V.Sivankutty. Nilambur Municipality is the only municipality in India to be recognized as a UNESCO Learning City. The establishment of UNESCO's Global Learning Network will pave the way for the comprehensive development of education and will receive up to Rs 80 crore from national and international agencies for comprehensive education activities in the municipal limits. The Minister was informed that the Nilambur Pattulsavam Tourism  Festival, a heritage festival of Nilambur, is being held as a Learning City Tourism festival this time. The festival will be held from December 20 to January 15.
